The Montessori Approach and Flexible Daycare Options

Originally, the overall Montessori educational approach focused on the needs of economically disadvantaged and developmentally challenged children.  Our current programs accommodate almost any child at any grade level through elementary school years.  Learn about admission to the Campbell Montessori School.

Campbell Montessori’s Toddler Program

We designed our daycare services with age-appropriate instruction in mind.  We provide a comfortable and caring environment for toddlers and preschool-age children.  We concentrate our daycare services on accommodating the needs of children age 18-30 months.  We assist children with developing basic social interaction skills that are appropriate for walking toddlers, who are now acutely observing their environment.

Campbell Montessori’s Toddler Program helps toddlers with environmental comprehension, how to interact with other children, and to understand experiences, and differentiate sensory stimuli.  With this systematic approach to instructing toddlers in social interaction, understanding various environmental stimuli, developing basic language skills, and how to distinguish different senses by developing physical and sensorial skills.

  • Self-identification and independence
  • Practical life skills such as general hygiene skills, orderliness (e.g. by putting away toys), independent eating, setting tables, washing dishes, how to use the toilet, and similar skills
  • Dexterity skills like handling objects, basic cleanup skills, how to pour drinks, folding clothing, sweeping, mopping, handling objects and similar activities
  • Learning respect for others and how to wait politely for others to eat; how to greet other children and adults politely; and, how to respect other children’s toys and workspace

Additionally, with our programs, we will assist your toddler with general sensorial skills and basic language comprehension including:

  • Basic English language development skills and understanding
  • Comprehension skills such as creating mental categories and associations
  • Matching and identifying objects by size, color, shape, texture, smell, etc.
  • Developing relational comprehension and acuity skills by exploring environmental stimuli such as textures (clay, sand, rocks, water) and developing more complex reasoning skills (e.g. putting together puzzles)
  • Learning basic math concepts by learning numbers and grouping objects together
