The Campbell Montessori Approach for Preschool Education

“The method in which these subjects are taught is wonderfully non-traditional. The materials for... subjects are arranged so that the child moves through directed steps...The students are encouraged to seek understanding of a subject through research, discussion, experiments, and hands on experience. The children choose their work and may work alone or in small groups with their mixed age classmates, where they learn to think and make decisions about their projects.”—Campbell Montessori School website (Elementary Program)

By allowing a child to learn at his/her pace, many children are more satisfied with the overall approach to learning.  Although originally developed to promote education of economically disadvantaged or educationally challenged children, the Montessori educational approach has served students throughout Europe and the United States quite well.  Our students learn respect for others and how to explore their own interests, while learning foundational skills that promote successful learning for the rest of their academic years.
